About Home Care Prices

Arranging care at home is hard enough without having to ring twenty agencies to find out which ones cover your street and what they charge. Home Care Prices lists every home care agency registered with the Care Quality Commission in England and collects the hourly and live-in rates agencies publish or report to us, along with the areas they say they cover, so families can compare before they call.

Where the information comes from

Names, office addresses, who each agency is registered to care for and CQC ratings come from the CQC’s public register and are refreshed every month. Rates come from three places: the agency’s own website, the agency reporting them to us, or our team adding them from a price list or a phone call. Each rate shows its source and date.

The area an agency covers is read from its own website where it says. Where it does not, we show an estimated radius around the office based on how built-up the area is, and the page says it is an estimate. The services and working practices listed on an agency page (live-in care, shortest visit, whether it employs its carers, direct payments) are read from the agency’s website too, and an agency that claims its listing can correct them.

Typical rates for an area are the median of the agencies there with a rate on record, and are only shown once at least three agencies qualify. We never present an area figure as a particular agency’s own rate.

Reviews are written by members of the public and read by a person before they are published. We remove reviews that are abusive, are not about the care, or that we cannot stand behind.

Who runs it

Home Care Prices is built and run by Helper.Community Ltd, trading as PrimeCarers, a UK introductory agency through which families find self-employed carers for hourly and live-in care. We think families should see the full picture before they decide, including that option, so where we mention PrimeCarers we say so plainly and show its rates alongside the agency figures. We also run The Care Home Directory, which does the same for care homes.
